Памя’тка туристу, прибувающему на острів Маврікій:

Please, do your own research to get the idea of what you want to do on the island.

• Visa:
• 30 days tourist visa is given at the airport. I will send you the invitation to give to the authorities at the airport;

• Airfare:
• I flew by Airfrance (http://www.airfrance.com/indexCOM.html).
• I paid 11,000 гривень for roundtrip.

• Budget:
• See separate document with indicative prices. The minimum budget for the island would be $600. A better budget is $800. For $2,000 you are the king! This excludes airfare.

• Musts:

• SEE:

• Port Louis (the capital city);
• Grand Baie (beaches, clubbing, nightlife, souvenirs, tourists from everywhere);
• Pereybere (as above);
• Curepipe (volcano, great views on half of the island);
• South Cost (when you look on the ocean from the South there is nothing in front until Antarctica, great views, sharks, etc);
• Sunset in the ocean around 6pm daily

• DO:

• Meet local people, talk to them, hang out, have a drink. They are very open. Speak both English and French as well as Creole;
• Hike in the mountains (any mountain you can hike) to see the entire island;
• Sing karaoke (usually on Fridays);
• Drink local rum (Green Island) and local beer (Phoenix);
• Swim in the ocean and get sun;
• Go on the boat to see whales (кашалоти) or dolphins;
• Surf (wind surf, kite surf);
• Dive (MUR 1,000 per dive);
• Sky dive (MUR 8,000 – 15,000 per dive) – you see the entire island from the air;
• Snorkeling;
• Blue Marlin fishing (Big game fishing) in the open ocean (MUR 10,000 for 5 persons for 5 hours);
• Eat Creole Mauritian, Indian, Chinese cuisine, particularly grilled fish, rice, noodles, dhall puri and roti with chili or pepper
• Horse racing in Port Louis;
• Visit one of the small islets (islands) located near the shore of Mauritius itself

• NIGHTLIFE:

• Sufren (Port Louis);
• 4 Points Sheraton, Keops (Ebene);
• Shoots, Shouts (Flic en Flac);

• OTHER:

• If you have time and resources:
• visit the island of Rodrigues (it should be about MUR 10,000 for 2 days);
• The country is safe, but keep your wallets securely, especially in Port Louis;
• Buy something with Dodo bird as a souvenir;
• Bring me a block of Dunhill blue from Ukraine;
• Bring 1-litre of Nemiroff with peper for me

• REMEMBER:

• Its only the fisherman knows where the wind blows!
